Latin Dance – Oxford 1, 2, 3

OXFORD 1.2.3 – SBK matinée social (Saturday edition) 

What is it?

It is a matinée (afternoon) Afro-Latin event with a 45 min Cuban Salsa class (2 levels: beginner & intermediate) at 17:00 followed by social dance until 20:30 – 21:00. 

What music?

Flexible format, and it would depend on attendees’ vibes during the social dance. However, we would try to play 40% Salsa, 40% Bachata, 15% Kizomba and 5% other genders (merengue, semba, chacha,…). Of course, we welcome any recommendation on tracks before and during the event. Just tell us what you would like us to play, and we will!

Price?

As you must have seen already on the event’s banner with large letters, the event is “FREE”. We are not charging any amount for getting into the event because we really expect attendees to consume from the bar that will be available during the event. Please, if you really want events like this to happen more often in Oxford, support the venue by consuming any drink, food they offer during the event.

Donations

As we said, the event is totally “FREE ENTRY” which also includes the class before the Social Dance. However, if after the class you really think that the instructors deserved any profit because they did a good job, we are sure they will welcome any type of donation: it might be £1, £5, £100, a drink from the bar or just a dance with them during the Social Dance. In other words, whatever you believe the class was worthy.

Why we do it?

Because we love dancing! It is healthy, with good vibes, it makes you meet wonderful people with any background and, talking honestly, it is a cheap hobby (in comparison with an evening out in a club/pub).

By running these types of event, Oxford Baila really wants to make social dance and the introduction to it accessible for everybody. And of course, it is another day for dancing in our beloved Oxford.
